being a woman

ihix...woman? in a few days i shall call myself a woman. i am no longer a girl, not yet a woman, but getting there ^__^

i heard its woman's day today. so happy woman's day! so why woman's day anyway? a day to celebrate the females? or appreciate them? or to continue exploiting them?

last week i attended a debate sponsored by TV3nz and hosted by the Otago Debate Society (me just the spectator ;p). the title was "does islam oppress women?"..it was a good debate and the negative team (the muslim team) won! and the best thing was, a lot of misunderstandings regarding islam were cleared. i like the closing speech from the negative team, given by brother Bilal. He said "to know whether the muslim women are oppressed or not, it is best to talk to them and ask them what they really feel about being a muslim woman. not just listening to what the BBC or CNN or FoxNews had to say.."

what so special about women that everyone is talking about them anyway? people are talking about women's right, muslim women's right, feminism, prostitutions and they never stop talking about woman. everyday, we will surely pass a street where there will be posters, banners, billboards with women in them. like every single thing that needs promotion must have at least a woman in the advertisement. what a woman got to do with selling cars? what woman got to do with selling food? what woman got to do with selling condoms? what woman got to do with selling abs burner? and in dunedin, what a woman got to do with selling a man's suit????

ridiculous sangat. ladies, dont you feel like u are being used for the sake of male's purposes and desires? solely for them! and its like your life's purpose is to serve them? dont be ridiculous like those guys, ladies! i am talking about woman's exploitation here. it is such a pity that not even yourself to realize that you are being exploited.

break yourself free from anything related to what men want. you are here, born into this world with a divine purpose. and that purpose is to serve God. Allah. and so are men who live to serve Allah too.

being a woman is not about being beautiful in appearance but it is the inner beauty that counts. it is not about getting all the attention from both genders but it is the attention of Allah that counts. it is not about being kept as a trophy but to contribute to the society.

save your money from being spent tremendously into the fashion industries. cover up yourself, wipe away all the make-ups, step into this world with confidence knowing that Allah is always with you. remember to express your intelligence and inner beauty only for the benefit of the mankind (ummah) and the life of the hereafter.
